According to Matthew 25, Christ would be out wandering in different guises, as the poor, leper, homeless wanderer, stranger, a small child in need, etc. These became the foundational aspects of early to later Christmas traditions about Christkind, or Christkindl, German for Christ-child. Kriss Kringle is an Americanization of Christkindl. Which are earlier versions of Santa Claus.
