Publisher Marketing: After three years in Pilothead Sound, Cass believes he's finally found his version of "domestic guy bliss" as he pursues a long-delayed love of the culinary arts. However, an introduction to Auguste des Anges, "the man who sees angels," throws him a curve-ball in the form of a vintage journal he and Lawrie discover concealed in a painting. The contents of the journal bear disturbing confirmation that the less savory legends of the Quad and Anglehorn are alas all too real, leading to a life-threatening situation with Kippie and her friends as they decide to explore the underground's tunnels and its as-yet unidentified residents. Abel meanwhile has a spiritual encounter with a youth from Tumac's village, where Evito and Tia have fled with warnings of growing dangers in E-Etrusca; this encounter reenforces the reality of the Deliverer legend to the cynical young warrior, whose discovery of a mysterious buried city near the village raises more questions than it answers. Mary Beth and Akele discover an antique medical logbook which contains intriguing clues to the origins of the Deliverer's mysteriously interrupted yet timely lineage, and Papi and Paolo's Aunt Roni provides chilling details which fill in more gaps in the legend which suddenly begins to seem quite feasible. The separate storylines with Cass, Lawrie and Abel draw closer together with similar happenings a continent away, reenforcing the truth that in their circumstances, at least, there is no such thing as coincidence, and everything happens for a reason whether in the hidden village of Waraq (Sunrise), the ancient citadel of E-Etrusca, or the faraway tourist town of Pilothead Sound.
