Sphere of Mercy
Michael Wayne Liebo
It is 1938, and deep inside a military hospital, an experiment called the White Door is searching for clues about out-of-body travel brought on by near-death experience. Everything is going fine until a lovable crew of German submariners are captured near the Golden Gate Bridge in a stolen U-boat and forced to become subjects of the experiment by a power-thirsty and villainous general. Sphere of Mercy follows one of the experiment's doctors, a young psychologist named Jon Lafuank, who disappears after allegedly learning a secret from one of the Germans. Jon is discovered by a disgruntled soldier, Corporal Frank Biloxi, the rebellious son of a spy who deeply regrets his decision of joining the army. This novel brings the reader on a Pacific coastal adventure with these characters and many more. It includes cougar-infested coastline, a mountainous mining ghost town, the inner-city compound of the mysterious Mr. Gray, smugglers, Good Samaritan mercenaries, treasure-hunting thieves, and more.
