A retired engineer has been given a few months to live and his young son, an Oscar winning Hollywood's superstar is crushed by the betrayal of his wife. The father is struggling to find a peaceful way to live his remaining months and the son is fraught with the curse typically associated with the Hollywood fame and fortune. Son, not aware of his father's situation, turns up seeking his help. The father surpasses his own need of help from his son, and decides to help him. Together they embark on a road trip from Vancouver Island to Los Angeles. What happens on the road trip teaches them both not just how to survive but to thrive by laughing in the face of calamities and learning that living and not life is a gift.
