A necklace fell from the sky one dark night. Ankius put it on having no idea what it is or where it will lead him. Two groups from two different places and different times meet to try and stop an unfolding catastrophe. The first group started with the accidental gladiator, Ankius. He sets out on the age-old quest to find why there is so much suffering in his world. Unlike others who have gone before, he wants to meet the gods one on one as a living man. Ankius makes close friends along the way who cannot even fathom the level of violence and bloodshed he has been through. Will he be able to keep them safe in a dangerous world, and keep his own inner demons at bay? Xerces was a spy for an inter-stellar empire until he started asking uncomfortable questions about the wrong people. The punishment is exile for life. He is to become a deep space explorer with a one-way ticket. The beautiful Dr. Dzann Argentina is his unwilling captain. She refused an offer to play along and use her skills for monster making. Their ship, The Phoebe Sofia is a technological wonder with ample space, a rich garden and a soul. Who runs things? Phoebe or Dr. Dzann. For company, they have a cyborg crew, who are one with Phoebe. Yuki, a deaf dumb teenager with a gifted pet monkey, joins Xerces and Dzann. A terrible accident at a secret research facility went horribly wrong and left her an orphan. Both groups are united by powers beyond their comprehension to stop the advance of intelligent machines from overrunning all humankind. How can they stop the stronger, faster and smarter machines?
