In the third installment of The Seaforth Chronicles, Ivy's sister Zinnia finally has a chance to tell her side of the story. Fulfilling her punishment to live aboard Magella's houseboat for twelve months, Zinnia explains what it is like for her to be the prisoner of the evil sea witch. Stripped of all magic, Zinnia is forced to swim in the ocean depths almost every morning to catch the old witch's breakfast with a half-working magic net. She must cook, clean, and scrub the boat. The worst part of all is Magella expects her to find Jonesby the Jinxer's lair, deep in the ocean, and take back a special item; there she discovers why Jonesby the Jinxer is considered the "stealer of souls." She meets up with the merpeople, who try to befriend her, and a handsome merman named Eadgar, who seems to have taken a liking to her. But what is it that they really have on their agenda? Enter into Zinnia's world, and take a peek to decide for yourself if she really is the selfish person that she has been portrayed to be-or if she is simply misunderstood.
