This is a story of the power of religious faith. WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN follows the Tompkins family from their roots as sharecroppers on a South Carolina farm through three generations, and the turn of the last century. The Tompkins family discovers a new kind of worship at an Azusa Tent Revival in South Carolina. The central figure in the story is Esther Tompkins, lovingly known as Mama. The book is full of stories from Mama's life and of the family members who surround her. Mama is blessed with special spiritual gifts that make her a force to be reckoned with. Later, she encourages her reluctant grandson Ethan to embrace his gifts and accept his calling as a preacher. In doing so, he establishes a new church and continues his family's vow to worship God until the last of their generations. Author Bio: Sherry Campbell is a native of Baltimore, MD and a Minister of the Gospel. She works for the Baltimore City School System, and is the mother of two adult children. WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN is Sherry Campbell's first book.
