Publisher Marketing: The Kanun is a set of traditional Albanian laws. The Kanun was primarily oral and only in the 20th century was it published in writing. There is only one Kanun since the ancient times commonly referred to the Kanun of Leke from which six later variations eventually evolved, categorized according to the area, the personality and their time of origin: Kanun i vjeter (English: Old Kanun), Kanuni i Leke Dukagjinit (English: The Kanun of Leke Dukagjini) The Kanun of Leke Dukagjini was developed by Leke Dukagjini, who codified the existing customary laws. It has been used mostly in northern and central Albania and surrounding areas formerly in Yugoslavia where this is a large ethnic Albanian population; Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia. It was first codified in the 15th century but the use of it has been outspread much earlier in time. -0-0-0-0- Kanuni i Leke Dukagjinit ose Kanuni i Malesise eshte permbledhja e ligjeve, rregullave, zakoneve shqiptare te Shqiperise se Veriut ne nje liber, ne rrjedhen e disa qindvjecareve, para dhe pas jetes se Leke Dukagjinit. Thelbi i Kanunit te Leke Dukagjinit jane fjalet e urta te dala nga goja e tij, qe u ruajten (dhe u pasuruan) brez pas brezi per gati gjashte shekuj. Ata jane percuar gojarisht nga brezi ne brez. Ligjet e Kanunit kane sherbyer per me shume se pese qindvjecare si menyra e themelte e sjelljes shoqerore dhe veteqeverisjes per klanet e Shqiperise se Veriut, edhe atehere kur rajoni sundohej nga Perandoria Osmane. Rendesia e Kanunit ne historine e popullit shqiptar mund te mbivleresohet pak, por rregullat dhe normat e tij vazhdojne ende te ushtrojne nje ndikim te ndjeshem nder shqiptaret qe jetojne ne Shqiperi dhe Kosove, si edhe ne vendet tjera ne te cilat kane shtegtuar shqiptaret. Forma e pare e tij e shkruar i referohet Leke Dukagjinit edhe pse ka ekzistuar qe me perpara. Libri i Kanunit te Leke Dukagjinit u mblodh dhe u pajis nga At Shtjefen Gjecovi gjate viteve 1910-1925.
