Based on true events Born prematurely on a freezing day in 1862, a prayer is said over Adam Corbe?s tiny body by a Cajun traiteur. Surviving birth, he grows up on the banks of Bayou Lafourche where he hears beautiful Cleopha Langlinais tell stories of the great city of New Orleans. Then and there begins his love affair with the great city and he makes it his life?s ambition to see her one day. Through luck or fate, he finds his way to the Crescent City and makes it his home. In Adam?s long life he witnesses the beginnings of jazz, New Orleans? storied red-light district, creole mistresses, and the renaissance of the street cars. He lives a long life that brings him heartbreak and happiness, no different than most. He?s just a regular guy with a story to tell, and tell it he does.
