We believe that we are alone, that the universe is merely the next step in our evolutionary development, expansion beyond the boundaries of the Earth simply a matter of time. Our destructive tendencies make space travel more a necessity than a desire as we eat up all the natural resource at our disposal. We are however misguided in our confidence, fooling ourselves into seeing only that which we choose to see. There are indeed others within our solar system, beings far more technologically advanced than we. Other races that make humanity look like its still living in the Stone Age. Races, who are watching us with great interest, concerned that the disease of mankind may reach out and infect others. That's where Mike Novak comes in. He looks like any other human and lives among us with impunity, hidden in plain sight. Yet despite the facade of normality that he has worked so hard to create his real agenda is to observe the human race and report back to the Galactic Council on just what it is that makes us tick. He kept himself to himself, the life of a solitary figure, life of a loner serving to allow him to go about his business without attracting any undue attention. That was until Julie came into his life and changed everything. Mike knew the risks; the Sentinels to whom he reported had always been very clear on the risks of becoming involved with any of the indigenous species. Despite the warnings however Mike fell in love and eventually revealed the true nature of his work to the one person in the whole universe with whom he had a connection. They say that love conquers all and so it proved as Julie agreed to keep Mikes secret irrespective of her dislike for the Council and what they stood for. She didn't like Mike's inaction, the cold disconnect that he displayed whenever a tragedy befell humanity but she knew what his interjection would mean to them and the world so she accepted it. Besides what could Mike do anyway? Sure he could fly but that fact aside he had no powers as far as they both knew so what would exposing himself even achieve? All of that changed the day they fired 'the bomb'. It was the weapon that was supposed to act as the ultimate deterrent, nobody thought that anyone would ever be determined enough to push the button, so nobody saw it coming. Armed with the knowledge that Julie was carrying their child Mike had a choice to make, allow mankind to step over into oblivion or intervene, hoping that he could make a difference whilst simultaneously exposing himself to the world. The bomb was stopped but now the world is watching all eyes glued to television screens, everyone wanting the answer to the biggest questions in the history of mankind's tenure of the planet Earth. Who was the flying man? Where had he come from, and what did his appearance mean for the world and its people? The Galactic Council orders ringing in his ears Mike handed himself over to those who wished to ascertain what it all meant. When they locked him up however humanity sealed its fate and the Council decreed that mankind could not be allowed to continue to exist. Plans are set in motion to destroy the Earth and all of its inhabitants, the only person who can save us now is the very individual that we hold prisoner. How can one being stand up to the might of the Galactic Council and what does it mean for us all if he fails? Contributor Bio:  Grant, Stuart Legendville is the first full length novel by novice author Stuart Grant. A father of two, former Ibizian barman, sofa salesman, croupier and radio presenter Stuart had had the idea for Legendville gestating within the confines of his imagination for over ten years. Following the self publication of his debut novella Loner Stuart finally put pen to paper and completed this novel in the hopes that others enjoy the world that he has imagined.
