Echoes from the White Bear Inn Gene McSweeney
Echoes from the White Bear Inn
Gene McSweeney
Nearly two centuries ago, the White Bear Inn was built on the banks of the Ohio River east of Cincinnati. Over time, some of the characters who dwelled there for a night or a lifetime left subtle clues to intriguing stories that eventually became hidden behind boarded-up doors and the thick gray dust of partially furnished rooms and empty hallways. Once the boards and drapes were removed and the dust cleared, the stories came echoing back through time from the distant routes of the Underground Railroad, the whistles of steamboats, the laughter of lovers, and the anguish of the broken hearted. There were stories of fortune and misfortune, love and loathing, joy and heartache, hope and despair, cowardliness and heroism.
