Publisher Marketing: It's been almost a year since Jack fell through his attic window and found himself drafted into the Comet Corps, orbiting a war-torn alien world halfway across the galaxy. Now safely back on Earth, with Summer Break just around the corner, Jack's brain only seems to focus on one thing: Jennifer Mitchell. His thoughts are far from the stars... ... Until a mysterious message arrives through the portal, landing loudly in Jack's attic. Jack can't read the alien language. He throws it back, but it just returns, again and again. Jack needs to find Regent, his super-smart sidekick from the other planet, but this time when he jumps through the portal, he ends up on a "much" different world. In a "much" different body. Before, he was mistaken for a superhero. Now it looks like he's a slave... On Earth, Jack's secrets are piling up. His friends can't understand why he seems so distant, his parents are concerned with his odd behavior, and worst of all, Jack's nemesis, Dirt, the biggest bully in school, just noticed Jennifer Mitchell too. Off-world it's much worse: Jack may have started a war that will destroy an entire alien race. Comet Jack 2: The Dark Sea Uprising is an all-ages science fiction adventure featuring: An underwater crisis New worlds, new aliens, new superpowers New revelations about the Comet Corps The return of Jack's super-smart sidekick ("don't" call him a robot) Several secrets, one crush, two gills And more... Contributor Bio:  Kopka, Steve Steve Kopka has written all his life and has always been drawn to speculative fiction. He still remembers the excitement of discovering whole other worlds that seemed written just for him. Comet Jack is intended to be one of those books, a book that opens up a new secret world, and perhaps for some young readers become That Book which hurtles them forever into the boundless world of reading. What was Steve's "That Book"? There were several, including: The Phantom Tollbooth, The Chronicles of Amber, Cat's Cradle. Steve is a parent, aikidoist, groundless optimist, science enthusiast, skeptic of absolutes, and great believer in flexibility. He studied Classical Civilizations and Creative Writing at Beloit College in Wisconsin. He attended Viable Paradise Writer's Workshop in 2008. He lives in the Chicago area where, among other things, he attempts to improve his basketball game. He notes with sadness and great pride that his son is improving much faster than him.
