The first part of the novel is based in the Indian coastal town of Pondy. The protagonist of the novel is Ratan. Aman is a close friend of Ratan and he lives with his mother Sabita in Pondy. The second part of the novel is based in the Caribbean. How Ratan becomes Ranjo and meets Sarah to become a world class Soccer player is the main theme of the novel. The novel goes through pain, sorrow and difficulties faced by the youth in today?s world and ends in a wonderful way leaving a strong message for the people.
