The story is filled with believable characters: an overbearing husband (who Monica still believes is a good man), a sister totally opposite of her in every way whose married to a wonderful man (her fourth husband), an older neighbor woman who decides getting a dog is the best way to catch a man and has dreams of dancing her way to death regardless of the cost; a loving son venturing out on his own and heading to college; and a dear friend that gets her to finally play bridge where she ends up getting to know the formidable (in her mind) financial lady that ends up being her savior. With twists and turns of events, Monica discovers that her soul is like a Silver Trumpet (a deciduous tree) which both have a constant need of pruning so that their true inner beauty are allowed to blossom to their fullest potential. Believable settings, characters, and plot; however, a complete work of fiction. Yet, in fiction, one can often connect with underlying truths.
