Publisher Marketing: Welcome back to Rivers Run, a quiet little town in the Northwoods. The chief of police and his wife have convinced Rosa, and her son, Mateo, to leave their crime ridden neighborhood in Houston and move north, where they can relax and enjoy life. Mateo will have a new school, and Rosa will have the opportunity to start her own business. As Rosa and Mateo settle in, they begin to make new friends. Mateo befriends Doc Marican, a grandfather figure who teaches the young boy about wildlife. He also makes friends with Brenna, the daughter of one of Rivers Run's affluent families. Their friendship grows into something special, prompting Mateo to ask her to the prom. Rosa has some reservations about the young girl, but reluctantly agrees to Mateo's plans. Rosa herself is fast making friends. Tom O'Reilly, an attractive single man whom she had met the summer before while on vacation in the area, manages to make her rethink her decision that she doesn't need a man in her life. But when she finds out that he and Letty, the woman who runs the coffee shop next door, have a relationship that dates back to their high school days, Rosa finds herself pulling away from both of them, convincing herself that she's better off alone. When prom night turns into tragedy, Rosa's relationship with her son, his friends, and Tom, are pushed to the limit. Unknown to all of them, there is evil lurking in the darkness that none of them could ever imagine. Will Rivers Run ever be the same?
