I felt the first lashing come down. The leather straps burning my skin as they cut into flesh, electricity seemed to rip through my whole body. My skin was still crackling as they brought it down again. I screamed through my clenched teeth. Closing my eyes as I tired to go somewhere else in my head. I couldn't take a breath, couldn't breathe without feeling the sting of pain on my back. My eyes opened. I could see blood slowly dripping down the drain, I could hear the men behind me counting. My back was breaking. I was dying. I had to be. Please just let me die. I remembered being hit with the stick in school, that had made me bleed, but it was nothing compared to this. This was so much worse. Three...four...five...six... Please let it be over. I could hear myself screaming. Couldn't stop the sound. Powerless over my own body. I broke down into tears. It wasn't over, not really.
