Adrift and coming to terms with her immortality, Talia embarks on a quest to rescue her mother from the Dentali who hold her captive as insurance against the power Talia and her kind wield. With no one else to ask, Talia enlists the help of vampire Arden and the resources at his disposal for the treacherous sea crossing. What they encounter has them questioning the nature of gods and their own existence, in a land where non-belief can transform vampires and werewolves into something other, possibly even human. A sadistic game between gods ensues while Talia's voyage of rescue transforms her life and the lives of her companions. Healing in the midst of tragedy takes great strength, a strength Talia must learn to harness and embrace for the sake of herself and her friends.
