Those Stolen Years

Publisher Marketing: A tragic accident leads to a startling revelation. Revelation leads to mystery and suspense as a criminal investigation begins to find lost children abducted almost twenty years before and return them in a long hoped-for family reunion. For Detective Inspector Robert Laxton, the case of this crime thriller is just beginning. For Rebecca Malling, the worst day of her life just got worse. Her mother, severely injured in a car crash, tells Rebecca with her dying breath that she is adopted. But when the search begins for her birth parents, Rebecca becomes embroiled in mystery and suspense - there are no records detailing her adoption or her origins. Could it be she is one of seven lost children abducted between 1965 and 1970? That is what the criminal investigation headed by Detective Inspector Robert Laxton is determined to find out. After tracking down the parents and obtaining blood samples, it seems like - for one of them at least - they will be reunited with their daughter. But what about those who don't get a family reunion? Always bothered about leaving a job half done, Laxton goes on the hunt for the other missing children. Whether or not he can track them down after twenty years in the wind is another story. Contributor Bio: Barrett, Ernest Born in Sheffield, Ernest Barrett was the eldest of seven children. He was called up for National Service in 1948 and after signing on, spent six and a half years in the R. A. F. After leaving the forces he took a job at the steel works in Rotherham. He later moved to Lincolnshire after suffering a life changing accident at the steel works in 1968. After struggling to cope with his injuries he eventually got a job with the Skegness council, where he stayed until his retirement in 1995. After an Open University course he took up writing poetry and short stories. Although he didn't complete the course (much to his regret) it was a great help. This was followed by him joining the Skegness Writers.
