Shawn Khalifa was incarcerated at age 15 for a murder he did not commit. He was sentenced under the felony murder rule where innocence and culpability are not an issue. It was known by the jury, judge, and D. A. that he did not commit murder but he was given a sentence far beyond what most real murders get. He is a gifted author and conveys the experiences he has encountered in the most severe and cruel environments imaginable. This cruel and unusual punishment is not justified for most young offenders, Shawn has spent 11 years mentoring and writing books so that he can deter at risk youth from the the horrors he has experienced.
