The sky above is a children's picture book. The story is set up in the sky, where all phenomenon which we see everyday is imagined as a result of a single act of a single person. The sun, the moon, the rain, and the rainbow are expanded as real characters living in the sky. For example, the shepherd prince shaves his sheep, and then the tiny wool falls down and turns into raindrops. My target readers are girls between the ages of 7 and 9. Girls of this age are fond of fairy tales, princes and princess stories. I include all these elements in my story, but tell the story in a more nontraditional and imaginative way. The main character is a princess who can sew very beautiful, but fragile silk, which is the rainbow we saw in the sky. She is depressed by the fact that others often neglect her work, while her brothers: the sun, the moon and the rain prince are worshiped by thousands of people on earth. All her brothers try to help her, but fail. At last she realizes that it doesn't matter whether the majority of people can appreciate her work or not. What is important is that she can bring beauty to the earth, and she enjoys the process of creating. Another highlight of this book is its unique illustration technique. It is a combination of the 3D and 2D. I make my main character rainbow princess a little felt puppet. Other sub-characters are a 2d hand drawing. The fury and craft feeling of the princess distinguishes her from other character. A lot of everyday items will be photographed s a part of the illustration. After editing in Photoshop, the common items will become magical and dreamlike.
