It had been a turbulent five years at Sundoor plateau. Isolated from the desert proper a thousand feet below them and with all their enemies, internal and external vanquished Amelia had only local and domestic disputes to deal with. It was a time of peace and quiet, a time to relax and appreciate the desert 'island' they had finally conquered and learn the way of the 'hunter gatherer'. That was until in a casual conversation Amelia picked up a reference to 'Sundoor central' and a 'Sanddancer bias' against the many normals among them. Denying any knowledge of the incident in question only made matters worse. This was Amelia, leader of the whole colony, how could she not know of an accusation of a vicious rape? The normals asked themselves. It was inconceivable that she couldn't know. Was she in on it as well? And blamed her and the Sanddancers in no uncertain terms. Amelia found it hard to concentrate. Her usual warning that all was not well was usually her mysterious cello calling gently from some other worldly dimension, but this was loud and raucous, and as Amelia glanced at the sky she knew this was going to be far worse than anything they had encountered before, and she asked herself the question she had vowed never to ask: Was she good enough?
