Robin Grinling, new Curator in the Danford Museum in Edgell, Mass., is preparing an exhibition of long-hidden, unattributed paintings recently inherited by young deb Slinky Chase. Robin uses her tradecraft, her museum training in connoisseurship and iconography to identify the artists, one by one. She is thrilled with her discoveries, until she realizes something about these innocent-seeming still lifes causes people to die, starting with heiress Slinky. For Robin has discovered unsettling clues in the still lifes, shocking secrets of intrigue, passion and betrayal among the wealthy old families in this aging milltown. Now Robin realizes that two others were killed on the verge of revealing these secrets. Feeling suddenly alone and vulnerable in this unfamiliar city, she must identify the killer quickly, or be next. Stakes are high, the pressure is on, and there is malice aplenty!
