Did you ever walk into a room and just plain forget why you'd gone in there? Where did that memory go? Chances are a goblin took it. Orien is a house goblin. He has a good life. His days are filled with process and order, just how he likes it. His job is to take memories from his human, a girl called Mae. Not the big stuff, because that would be against goblin rules, but the little memories that don't matter, like how to spell Mississippi or what she ate for lunch. But when Orien discovers another goblin trying to steal more than just the regulation memories from Mae and her mother, his nicely ordered life comes under threat. He must choose between his precious rules and his human's happiness.
