Putting together a book of prayer for everyday use by everyone and anyone is quite a challenge. To whom are the prayers directed? The word "God" is a very loaded term conjuring up many different ideas to many different people. Some people have no problem with the God word and that is fine. But others cannot accept it. God is by very definition indefinable and the very best of words which attempt to define the indefinable must always fail. When we speak of a personal God I believe we largely project our limited individual human personalities on the divine. Texts that suggest that God has made us in His image lead us to see God in our own limited image. God becomes a bigger version of ourselves, and therefore not necessarily a very attractive one. Ultimately we pray to be at one with what is. I hope that the prayers in this book will help you in your quest.
