Wrangling Echoes B Breckenridge
Wrangling Echoes
B Breckenridge
As Animal Control Officer Art Hood tries to collect fines on a dog that snatches balls from the golf club fairways, it becomes clear that he and the dog's caretaker, Evelyn, are attracted to each other. So begins their tense, muted coutship---a mutual wooing that for Art soon grows frustrating, humorous, and suspenseful as he wrangles with Evelyn's abrupt disappearance, his mother's dementia, and the shadowy machinations of a rival for Evy's attention from her mysterious past. Wrangling Echoes, a narrative richly nuanced and wonderfully difficult to stuff into any one genre, is a potluck supper of Americana, at times reminiscent of Flannery O'Connor and Faulkner, and one that folks who know and love the cultural heritage of Appalachia will especially enjoy.
