Escape from Bad Schachen George Sintich
Escape from Bad Schachen
George Sintich
At 6am on Sunday morning, April 6th 1941, Germany started her invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece. At the same time, the Gestapo along with the SS and the German army marched into the Royal Yugoslav Embassy in Berlin and arrested and imprisoned the entire Yugoslav delegation. Among them was Colonel Zlatko Nikola Sintic, who at the time was Military Attache. A pioneering aviator and hero of WW I, Sintic was respected by the German High Command and a personal friend of Hermann Goering, but that was not enough to save him in time of war. Sintic, with a cadre of trusted officers, tries to find a spy in the Embassy and to save a handful of Embassy staff from German imprisonment, leading to a desperate attempt to flee to Switzerland.
