When the whole world was bent on destroying the fledgling Christian faith and perhaps its own future in the process, one aged disciple was miraculously saved from martyrdom and chosen for a journey that would become the inspiration of generations to come! Many stories have been written based on an interpretation of the biblical book of Revelation. This is not one of those. This is rather a retelling of Revelation that grew from the premise that the apocalypse is in and of itself a story capable of delighting. No, perhaps not of delighting; of awing and of inspiring! This book, then, explores Revelation from an angle that has seldom if ever been attempted before, raising some very interesting questions, and the answers that may be most consistent with the text are so stunning that our minds do not even pause to consider the possibility. So many times John refers to periods of time such as 42 months even a thousand years as if he actually lived through them. Could it be possible he experienced all this in real time? Could John during his vision have experienced the passing of over a thousand years such that his small cave in Patmos felt like an alien world from the distant past by the time he returned to it? Go back, or perhaps I should say go forward, and experience with the apostle this marvelous vision called the Revelation of Jesus Christ!
