Corridos of Guadalupe County Daniel B Flores

Corridos of Guadalupe County is a collection of seventeen corridos about events that happened in Guadalupe County. The corridos are presented in their original Spanish language. They have not been translated into English. Many of them also have stories and information about the events that led to the corrido being composed. The topic of the corridos varies. Most of them were composed to commemorate the death of a loved one or a friend. There are also two corridos about Billy the Kid, the first one dealing with his capture and the second one with his death at the hands of Sheriff Pat Garrett. Also included is a corrido about another famous outlaw from the 19th century---Nicolás Aragón. I have also included a corrido that I composed in October 1991 to commemorate an even being held in Puerto de Luna at the former residence of my great-grandfather, Alexander Grzelachowski. The event was being held to celebrate the placement of his residence on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Concurrently, there was also a re-enactment being held to celebrate the last Christmas dinner of the famous outlaw, Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid ate his last Christmas meal at the home of Alexander Grzelachowski on December 25, 1880.
