Kimyetta Taylor
Atrurose is the compelling true story of Kimyetta Taylor, a victim of child abuse and adult domestic violence. Kimyetta documents her captivating story of how her innocence was stolen at the tender age of three years old. She was labeled a liar by many members of her family who chose to not believe Kimyetta when she shared her horrible secret; this perpetuated continued abuse through her adult life and her silent suffering. Kimyetta uses the lifecycle of a rose to walk her readers through her very emotionally, painful and terrifying chapters of her life. Between the chapters, she also includes her poems which she calls her "commercial breaks," that helped her to make it through the very painful memories. Kimyetta explains that she had to go all the way back to child hood in order to find the root cause as to why she remained a victim for so many years and then pluck out the root in order to heal. She learned that God's love for her is unconditional which also let her know that Love doesn't hurt. Despite suffering abuse and domestic violence for over three decades, Kimyetta overcomes this victimization and becomes a survivor, protector, and spokesperson. Kimyetta was a speaker at the Jacksonville Florida Sheriff's Office and Hubbard House, Domestic Violence Press Conference on October 1, 2015, and she also appeared on News 4Jax Morning show on October 2, 2015.
