As a rural chief of police, he investigated several murders, broke up a chop shop, arrested arsonists while simultaneously dealing with the usual drunk and disorderlies and juvenile misdemeanors that all towns contend with, big or small. He was a union leader and held a strong tie to the Democrat party where he met several senators and representatives.
