'Faux Past: A Book of False History' is an update on 'Faux Past, ' the sixth book written by the author on the subject of Misconceptions, Fallacies and False Beliefs in Popular Lore. The original edition lists 35 world events that are popularly accepted as historical fact, but which have come into question because of their doubtful authenticity or accuracy. This revised edition adds another 15 items, and is aptly subtitled '50 World-Famous Events That Most Likely Never Happened'. As stated in the preface, the events are enumerated in the table of contents in no specific order, their settings ranging from the Greco-Roman period to the modern age. Each chapter describes an event and discusses why the author deems it worthy of a second look from students and enthusiasts.
