The Golden Mace Mystery finds siblings Alexander and Abigail McPhee unraveling a riddle that begins with the theft of an important symbol for the newly formed Dominion of Canada: the parliamentary mace.



In March of 1868, Canada is not yet a year old-and the new government is dealing with many different interest groups, some of which would prefer to stay part of Great Britain...while others, such as the Fenians, have their own agenda.



Meanwhile, twelve-year-old Abby's curiosity is a constant trial for everyone who knows her. So when she rouses her older brother, Alex, at ten o'clock at night, he knows something is up-and she's not going to let the matter rest until morning.



There's some unusual activity next door at the home of Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. After learning about the mace's theft, the siblings are determined to put their superb sleuthing skills to work in order to find out who the perpetrators are and what their intentions could be.
