Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." This book is entitled 'The Gracious Church' but it could also have the title, 'The Gracious Family.' Any group of people, no matter how small, can become a Gracious Church in itself, a culture of grace that is characterized by grace. The family and Christian gatherings of just 2 or 3 are the most basic ingredients of any Christian church. Every group of people has a distinctive culture characterized by how its people think, what they look at, and what they want. The Gracious Church is an intentional culture of grace because it intentionally shapes its culture by looking closely at the choice of grace over self-justification. It teaches about the meaning of grace and self-justification, it encourages grace over strategies of self-justification, and it emphasizes how grace is always, in every moment, a choice. 'The Gracious Church' shows families how they can shape their family culture to be a culture of grace; how a married couple can have a relationship characterized by grace; and how we can all have a more deeply fruitful relationship with our God of grace.
