The Haole boy returns to Garmisch Germany broke and wary after a disastrous attempt to visit Calcutta. He finds a job at the Hotel Von Steuben. Working in a kitchen ruled by a tyrannical, racist, ex-Nazi cook proves to be a challenge for Haole boy; still he manages to keep his focused on his goals and his mouth shut. This fictional work is based on the author's experience working for the American Forces Recreational Center in Garmisch Germany circa 1974-1976.
