Even before the death of Silva's mother, Silva knew that she wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps. If anything, it made her desire even stronger to accomplish what her mother did not. To become not only the youngest member of the Grand Commission, but to someday become the Supreme Commissioner, the highest office in the country. Only once did she fear her goal might slip away from her. It was on the day her girlfriend jumped from her office window. But when she was cleared of any involvement and appointed as High Commissioner of Portside, she could see nothing that could stand in her way. That was until Silva found herself staring into the eyes of the woman she assumed was dead. A woman she had been in love with. But after the brief encounter, Marta disappeared again. As much as Silva tried to go on with her normal life, she suddenly found herself caught up in something which caused her to question everything she believed in; her countries government which she was a part, the people closest to her, the scientific community which her father was a part, and at one point even her own sanity.
