Send Me Your Strong

In the mid eighteenth century, when the outside world intrudes on the peace-loving Aleut, Alidaq, he is cruelly jarred from the island life he has always known, and thrust into a strange new reality. To survive this new world that has been imposed on him and his people, he has to change the traditions and thinking thousands of years old. Harold, on the other hand, voluntarily changes his life when he leaves home in Chicago and heads for the late nineteenth century gold rush fields of Alaska to make his fortune. He's under no illusions about the challenges he will have to face, but soon realizes that he has underestimated just how overwhelming they can be. Nell, a thoroughly modern but disenchanted teacher, wants to leave behind her California life and start fresh in a little harbor town of Southeast Alaska where her Aunt runs a bed-and-breakfast. She's hoping for a new life, a new job, and a new love. In spite of the centuries that separate the lives of these characters, there are certain constants of Alaskan life that tie them together. They need to dig deep within themselves to find the strength and resourcefulness that will see them through every challenge. Through their struggles and tests, and their triumphs as well, they are inextricably bound to Alaska, the Great Land-the land that may ask a great deal, but gives back a hundredfold.
