Humans are extinct. They exist only as a footnote in ancient history. All that remains are the ruins of their crumbling cities and their mechanical creations. A civilization of intelligent machines thrives in their stead, the perfect society governed by order and reason. Or so it strives to be. To maintain order and continue the march of progress, dangerous Robots are sent to the detainment facility, Damascus-7, to spend the rest of eternity away from society. When a Robot is decommissioned under suspicious circumstances in this supposedly secure facility, Agent Silverman Mk-1443 is sent to investigate. A veritable Wild West of the dirty, grimy future, Damascus-7 is a world of its own, far removed from the civilized bots, where unsavory machines and dangerous gangs run amok. The trail to the perpetrator will lead Agent Silverman down a path that will have serious consequences much grander than he could have imagined, and will cause him to not only question his superiors' motives, but his existence itself.
