For most of us, pain, babies, and puppies are similar in the sense that we forget what they are really like after a while. Oh we have clear memories of them but not of the actual feeling. While we remember not to touch a hot stove again, we forget the actual sensation of being burned. And that's probably all for the best. If we had a clear and graphic memory of the experience, how often would we volunteer again? It had obviously been a while since we had a puppy because we were talking about getting another one.
