His keen diplomatic skills wins the favor of one of South Boston's most notorious, yet retired Irish mobsters, one who, along with the now incarcerated Whitey Bulger, ruled the Boston underworld for decades and he agrees to let him into his world to tell his story. What begins as an academic collaboration quickly morphs into a team; one that must stand together to thwart the violent encroachment of the Russian mob, who are looking to take advantage of the power vacuum created by the arrests of Bulger and the retirement of major Mob players.
