She is a retired Firefighter/EMT and worked 18 years managing a Cardiology practice. She was also an EMT Instructor for New York State teaching various vocational medical classes as well. Her daughter, Toni Helen, also wrote "Believe in Miracles- Lessons from the animals at Last Stop Horse Rescue" and "Last Stop Horse Rescue Plays Cupid!"- Ranked #1 New Release in Children's Books by Amazon! Since becoming a Grandmommy, Joyce recently expanded her rescue to a second location and is now licensed in both Maine and Georgia. This "mother-daughter" team dedicate themselves to saving abused, starved, and neglected horses. Each horse under their loving care is rehabilitated using Natural Horsemanship, no-force methods. They work closely with Animal Welfare, participate in Veterinarian programs and are always willing to help other animal rescues.
