Corinne Collier has returned to San Francisco and the house on Octavia Street after a month in her native Alabama. Her situation has changed, however; she is the mistress of the house now that Eugenia Hurst, her former charge, has died. Corinne looks forward to continuing her romance with Pete Caglan. All of the surviving characters from Full Circle have returned, along with a few new ones - both human and canine. An old nemesis reappears, too, bent on revenge.
