The author is best known for her progressive bi-monthly column that for fifteen years appeared in the Gainesville Times. Joan King is furthermore an accomplished short story writer and has been published in the White County News and a number of other papers and magazines. This book contains a sampling of both her essays and short stories. Among the stories, Living Alone and The Cockroach, especially demonstrate her abilities as a gifted writer. Joan King is also a talented graphic artist. Some of her illustrations have been included to adorn this attractive little volume.
