Delvin Smith was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Barbara and Lee Smith. As an eighteen-year-old kid, he met a young lady in his math class his senior of high school - 1998. Because of that meeting, they both started a journey that will last a lifetime. They are the mother and father of a beautiful young lady. Delvin, has an inquisitive disposition and, therefore, is very observant of his surroundings. In this book, he chronicles the saga of the three of them: his daughter, her mother, and himself as they have navigated the intervening years. He takes us inside his world and mindset from the moment his baby girl takes her first breath, her first cry, and opens her eyes. Their written story ends in the cool of a morning after he received a call from his baby's mother and he arrive in Atlanta, picks up his daughter, and hold her in his arms after-- he had just completed a 12-hour shift at work. He can make you feel like you are 'walking with him' as he shares his story. You can feel what he felt; you can understand what he understood, and you can wonder as he wondered about his predicament at times. For a young man, he has remarkable wisdom and maturity. You will find yourself silently agreeing with what he is saying at times even though you know you shouldn't. You may even find yourself on his side of predicaments when under normal circumstances you wouldn't. Yes! His story will challenge you intellectually and move you emotionally. Ironically he was inspired to write this book by one written by his daughter's mother; therefore, you can imagine the tension that is woven, within the paragraphs, throughout the pages of this book. Enjoy!
