In the second chapter of the book of Genesis, we find God in the midst of His creative work - the heavens and the earth and everything on it, and, of course, His beloved son whom He places in the Garden of Eden. He's not done yet. God takes a look and decides that it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). He then makes a helper suitable for him, and reveals the design to us - that a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one (Genesis 2:24). This is God's template for marriage. His design for you and the helper He has made suitable for you. This is the part in the story where we men need to pay very close attention. The serpent, who was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made (Genesis 3:1), slithers up next to the woman and begins asking questions. She becomes confused about who she is, confused about who God is, and begins to lose faith in everything she knows. What happens next is known simply as "The Fall", and it is the single event that mankind has been reeling from ever since. And guess what? Her husband was standing right next to her. He watched, and did nothing, as the enemy of his life and of his marriage destroyed everything he loved. Men, you have an enemy. This enemy wants to destroy everything good that God has set aside for you, and he especially wants to destroy your marriage. In this book, you will walk through what it means to love, honor, serve, and cherish your wife. You will understand God's plan for marriage, and you will learn how desperately God wants to bless you and the woman He has given you.
