Six years have come and gone since the magical summer when Jimmy Baker, Sugar Dog and his three friends Manuel Martinez, Tyrell Johnson and Tommy Collucci helped find the Morgan family treasure out on the spit that separates the bay from the ocean near their hometown of Capeview. The four were twelve years old then and all played on the town's little league team that won the championship that summer, and they spent a week at Camp Chinook where Sugar Dog helped them discover an illegal toxic waste dump site nearby. It was also the summer Sugar Dog suddenly and uncharacteristically misbehaved several times, each time putting her in great danger. One of those times she chased a bear, got injured and became helpless and lost in the wild. Now the friends are eighteen and face one of life's greater forks in the road. But for Sugar Dog, whose fourteenth birthday is coming up in early fall, there is no fork. All that remains is love, and the ultimate path all living beings must take.
