1906: A Great Winter Storm... A great winter storm is swirling around the growing train town of Buckley, Montana. Sheltered and isolated within the storm's grip are Jon and Kim Lawrence, a recently married couple about to test the limits of their patience and love for one another in the deepening January blizzard. Kim was drawn to Buckley and the past through a supernatural shift in time, plunging her from the digital life of 2015 into a past with far more promise and romance than she'd ever hoped to find back home. But with her acceptance into this world has come responsibility, as she has just served a year as the first woman mayor in Montana; the first woman mayor west of Kansas. Meanwhile, a vengeful, sadistic gang with a vendetta to settle with Kim lurk on the outskirts of town. She feels compelled to work with her allies in town to keep the community safe and secure from the gang's attacks during the fearsome weather. Yet even with all the real threats they face from criminals and sub-zero temperatures, Kim and Jon find themselves increasingly preoccupied with their confusing expectations for what married life should mean to each of them. With Kim's modern independence champing against society's demands and Jon's early 20th century understanding of women's roles at times at odds, they struggle to prevent misunderstanding and pain from eclipsing their strong love for one another. On the other side of the storm are many potential futures for the Lawrence's and their close-knit community of friends - hope, romance, and a new life.
