Trinidad, California, like most cities in the U. S., has a storied past. Starting as the Yurok village of Tsurai perhaps as far back as the 1100's, through Spanish discovery in 1775, and still a lively little coastal city of over three hundred people today, Trinidad has evolved with the times. Sit with me and let me tell you about our history as an important ocean harbor link with the fur traders of the northwest and the gold mining camps of Northern California. Logging and milling the giant redwoods started around here and we had our own whaling station, too.
