Today we worry about global warming, but in the 1400s crops across America and Europe failed because of prolonged cooling. In the Middle Ages when the Little Ice Age causes famine and conflict in the doomed Greenlandic colony a desperate Viking clan leader attempts to escape by sailing to Iceland, but pirates, storms and treacherous sea ice force them to sail to North America. With the help of a native Micmac woman and a Huron ally they battle Mohawk warriors on their journey up the St. Lawrence river to a new homeland beyond the mighty falls of Niagara. A story with the clash of Vikings and native cultures, tragedy, danger, struggle, perseverance, friendship, bravery, Moorish pirates, loyalty, death, betrayal, treachery, prayer, swords, arrows, clubs, heroism, love, deceit, a blue-eyed native princess, three little girls and a heroic dog.
