Returning from college four years after the death of her ex-husband. Caity Carroll encounters the stigma of living in a small town after being called a murderer by her ex-mother-in-law, Beth Smith. She had survived the abuse and almost being killed by her ex-husband, Bryson Smith. Caity tries to escape with her friend, Jeff "Slip" Henwet to Jekyll Island, Georgia for a week but a run in with Beth Smith causes Caity to begin a spiral downward.
