"Somewhere in this whole wide world, there is a home for us, even if it might be miles and miles away," Thoma tells his wife and children after they are kicked out of his ancestral home in Amballore, in the Indian state of Kerala. The year is 1947, and despite Thoma's reassurances, there is nowhere for the growing family to find respite.

Their troubles are passed on to his ten children, many of whom become bitter from growing up in extreme poverty. War breaks out between the different factions of the family as the stronger personalities clash. Suspense and humor mix in the family intrigue that follows, proving that there's no system more dangerous than family politics.

First introduced in Jose Thekkumthala's humorous horror novel, Amballore House, the family is back in another ode to the beautiful state of Kerala and the strange and unexpected occurrences that happen there.
